Blame Canada at The Palladium Outdoors Concert Review

August 28, 2022 -- Sum 41 and Simple Plan with special guest Set It Off at The Palladium Outdoors in Worcester, MA. Originally scheduled for May 2022, the Blame Canada tour was pushed back by COVID to August 28th then moved outdoors where the show attracted over 8,000 fans.

SET IT OFF, started the night off with a bang playing a solid 10-song set highlighted by frontman Cody Carson hopping onto the barricade to interact with fans and briefly crowd surfing with them. Some of the more memorable songs include, 'Killer in the Mirror', 'Why Do I', 'N.M.E.' and the headbanging finale, 'Why Worry'. No doubt, Set It Off is a band with a very bright future and fans got a glimpse of just how talented this band is.

Next up was SUM 41, who hit the stage with AC/DC's 'TNT' playing in the background. Their energetic set included such fan favorites as 'Motivation', 'In Too Deep' and 'Fat Lip'. Frontman Deryck Whibley also played a guitar melody of Deep Purple's 'Smoke On The Water' telling the crowd it was "the first song" he learned how to play on the guitar, then morphed into a short rendition of 'Seven Nation Army'. Deryck reminisced with the crowd that the band's debut album, 'All Killer No Filler' dropped twenty-one years ago in 2001 and then played with them by saying his "pop" (Mighty Mighty Bosstones) Dicky Barrett grew up in the area. But the highlight of the show was a truly incredible rendition of Queen's 'We Will Rock You' that included an amazing guitar solo by the underrated Tom Thacker and Whibley asking the crowd to sing to the song. The band ended their 18-song set by playing 'Still Waiting'. Sum 41 truly entertained fans young and old with tonight's memorable performance.

Headling the show, SIMPLE PLAN surpassed the energy that Set It Off and Sum 41 displayed by starting their set off with by bang by Performing, 'I'd Do Anything'. Frontman Pierre Bouvier told the crowd he came "to party" and asked the crowd to "pretend we're back at Vans Warped Tour". Drummer, Chuck Comeau entertained by stage diving into the crowd. Some of the highlights of the show were when Pierre had the band's social media girl joined them in singing "Jet Lag," a song they normally don't play live. They also played a mixture of the songs, "All Star, Sk8er Boi and Mr. Brightside". Fans were also treated to favorites like, 'I'm Just a Kid', 'Addicted' as well as 'What's New Scooby Doo'. Then Simple Plan had show openers Set If Off join them for 'I'm Just a Kid' then ended the night with 'Untitled' (How Could This Happen To Me?) and finally 'Perfect'. You could just tell by the reaction of the crowd it was the perfect way to end the show.
